Choosing a Nogent*** knife means choosing high-quality French craftsmanship, rooted in the local area and underpinned by unique expertise.
Since 1923, the brand has been designing and manufacturing its knives in France, in the heart of the Haute-Marne region, the historic cradle of cutlery-making. Here, every product is the result of precise, skilled and dedicated craftsmanship.
At a time when many production processes are being outsourced, Nogent*** has chosen to maintain local manufacturing, a guarantee of quality, traceability and sustainability.
Nogent*** is one of the few brands to offer knives manufactured entirely in France, at its workshops in Biesles.
At this single site, every stage of production is managed in-house: cutting the blades, machining and shaping, heat treatment, moulding the handles, assembly, polishing and sharpening.
This fully integrated process ensures consistent quality across every product, whilst guaranteeing perfect alignment between design and manufacture.
Every Nogent knife is designed to deliver a precise, long-lasting and reliable cutting edge.
Quality control is carried out at every stage of the manufacturing process, ensuring that the blades are consistent, the sharpening is of high quality, the assembly is sturdy, and the knife feels comfortable in the hand.
This commitment guarantees high-performance products, suitable for both everyday and professional use.
Nogent’s French manufacturing process is also based on the selection of durable materials that are suited to their intended use:
XC50CrMoV15 – A carbon- and chromium-enriched stainless steel offering an excellent balance between long-lasting sharpness, corrosion resistance and ease of maintenance, ensuring reliable cutting performance over time.
For the handles in our traditional ranges: sourced from sustainably managed forests, this wood ensures responsible traceability, excellent long-term stability and a natural feel, whilst showcasing a fine, environmentally friendly material.
To reduce the environmental impact. Made from renewable resources such as sugar cane or composite wood, they help to limit the use of fossil fuels whilst maintaining strength, durability and user comfort.
For heavy-duty use and dishwasher-safe: resistant to moisture, impact and repeated washing, these materials ensure a long service life, optimal hygiene and easy maintenance, making them ideal for everyday or professional use.
Each material is selected to meet a specific objective: performance, durability and comfort.
Manufacturing in France also means choosing a responsible business model.
Nogent*** is committed to:
- giving preference to local suppliers
- minimising transport
- promoting short supply chains
- preserving jobs and French industrial expertise
Today, the vast majority of the brand’s partners are located close to the production site, reinforcing this regional presence.
The excellence of Nogent’s craftsmanship is recognised by the ‘Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant’ (EPV) label
This label recognises French companies with exceptional expertise. It highlights Nogent’s ability to:
- master industrial and artisanal techniques
manufacture locally in France - pass on its expertise
It is a strong endorsement of the brand’s commitment to quality manufacturing.
Beyond tradition, manufacturing in France is a genuine strategic choice for Nogent***. It enables the company to guarantee product quality, innovate more quickly, reduce its environmental impact, and meet consumer expectations.
In a changing world, Nogent has chosen consistency: producing closer to home, but to a higher standard.
Our aim is to design durable, precise and reliable knives, by overseeing every stage of the process and showcasing our renowned local craftsmanship.
