A century of expertise dedicated to creating precise, well-balanced tools built to last
In every kitchen, there is a knife you reach for without a second thought, because it sits comfortably in your hand, cuts precisely and stands the test of time. This is the very essence of Nogent Iconic: simple, durable and intuitive tools, designed to support the essential tasks of everyday life.
Their sleek design highlights the beauty of solid wood, whose natural colours and grain bring warmth and authenticity to the kitchen, whilst the precise, perfectly balanced blade extends the movement with effortless ease.
Since 1923, Nogent*** has mastered every stage of wood processing. Sourced from the forests of Haute-Marne, the wood is air-dried for a year at our site in Biesles; a natural process that guarantees the stability, durability and strength of the handles, whilst preserving the material’s qualities and minimising environmental impact.
For over a century, Nogent*** has been crafting wood with consummate skill, remaining true to its heritage as a cutler. Sourced from the forests of Haute-Marne and PEFC-certified (10-31-3657), the wood guarantees sustainable forest management and respect for the environment at every stage.
The wood is air-dried for a year in the factory’s timber yard. This natural process ensures the stability, strength and durability of the handles, whilst preserving the material’s intrinsic qualities.
Each handle is then precision-machined, stained and varnished in the workshops at Biesles, revealing the wood’s unique grain and offering a warm, authentic feel.
Through this woodworking, Nogent*** upholds a demanding artisanal craft, where quality, sustainability and environmental responsibility come together to create knives that are both high-performing and deeply rooted in their local heritage.
At the heart of the Nogent Iconic range, the choice of wood species plays a key role in the quality and identity of the knives. Three types of wood are used, each selected for its specific properties, and all sourced from PEFC-certified forests (certificate no. 10-31-3657), ensuring the sustainable and responsible management of resources:
Renowned for its high strength and robustness, it offers excellent durability and remains in perfect condition over time, even under heavy use.
Prised for its warm colour and fine grain, it lends elegance and character, whilst ensuring a pleasant feel and good stability.
Dense and uniform, it is characterised by its strength and naturally light colour, making it ideal for a simple, authentic look.
Each type of wood is carefully crafted in our workshops to bring out its natural qualities, resulting in handles that are attractive, comfortable and durable.
